Writing looks different in kindergarten than it does it many other grades. We try allow students to develop at their own pace, while encouraging different conventions to develop. As a teacher I am more focused on the content of my students' stories than correct spelling and punctuation. In this past unit we focused on giving our opinion and sharing why. To encourage good story telling students discussed their opinions, drew them, and wrote them. Then, they recorded themselves reading their writing to attach as an overlay using the Aurasma app. Now, people walking our halls can scan the different pictures on my bulletin board to hear and see students reading their work. I also put up a background to encourage students and teachers from other classes to stop by and give their own opinion. I'll add these videos as QR codes as they are sent to me. A new way to interact with student work!
